“eCLeCTiCa”

A unique and exciting musical explosion, whose ensemble playing redefines the 'string quartet'. Replacing the 2nd violin and the viola with two guitars, eCLeCTiCa! has the groove and drive of a jazz influenced guitar duo coupled with the soaring lyricism from two of the world's finest string players.

eCLeCTiCa! WHO?

Bernard Gregor-Smith-‘cello
40 years as a founder member of the world-renowned Lindsay String Quartet. Now cellist with the Dante and Primrose quartets. Bernard has made more than 80 recordings under his belt, and a good deal of them award-winning classics.

“ Gregor-Smith’s performance is always warmly generous with a wonderful elasticity of line…his massive golden sound provides the perfect medium…” The Strad

Lizzie Ball-violin
Her versatility and ability to perform great music of all styles is unsurpassed. She has performed chamber music with some of the finest musicians of today, including the Covent Garden Soloists, London Concertante, the Chilingirian Quartet, Bernard Gregor-Smith, Morgan Szymanski (guitar), Huw Watkins (piano), the Royal Opera House Orchestra, The Philharmonia, Britten Sinfonia, and many more. Luis D'Agostino-guitar
Luis is a virtuoso player whose styles span the spectrum of guitar music. Between 1983 and 1995, Luis - in his guise of feisty rock star - toured extensively through Latin-America and Europe with bands of the popular “New Song” movement. He then studied in LA with Scott Henderson and latterly with guitar legend Joe Diorio before becoming Director of the Yamaha School of Popular Music in Argentina.

Pete Oxley-guitar
Pete began his musical career in Paris, playing in literally scores of venues with various bands and musicians. It was there that he recorded his first three albums under his own name before relocating to the UK in 1997. Shortly afterwards - in partnership with Mark Doffman-he opened The Spin jazz club in Oxford which in May ‘06 was nominated by a Parliamentary group as ‘The Best Jazz Venue In The UK’. In May ‘05, Pete’s world-jazz group Curious Paradise released its stunning live album “English Elements” on both audio CD and DVD formats, to the general delight of the national critics.

"...the whole album has a chamber music feel about it..these two clearly love playing together. The sheer joy of making music together shines out...” The Oxford Times (review of D’Agostino and Oxley duo album)
